Jodi is about 5 years old and as sweet as
they come. She is a very gentle soul whose love for people
is apparent from the first moment she sets her amber eyes
on you. She never lets on how awful she must be feeling. In
addition to an abscessed wound in her neck which has been
slow to heal, both of Jodi's ears are almost completely
blocked with tumors. The tumors are the result of several
years' worth of chronic ear infections and, as they've
grown, they've blocked the infection in and sound from the
world around her out.
To treat the deep seated infections and relieve Jodi's
misery, she will need to have both ear canals removed &
the chamber behind her ear drums cleaned out. This surgery,
called a total ear canal ablation & bulla osteotomy,
can be done at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine and will cost approximately $2,100.
That amount is about 1/2 the fee charged by most private
veterinary surgeons but still a significant expense in
excess of ARPH's usual limit. Her surgery can be scheduled
just as soon as we have raised the funds to cover it.
If folks want to donate to Jodi through a tax deductible
channel, then can send funds directly to ARPH & have
them designated for Jody, ARPH tag #
10383.

Splash needs your help. Last fall Splash
was brought to the vets by his owner because of a small
patch of skin on his head. Splash was diagnosed with
Demodectic mange. The owner was given some medication to
give to Splash. The vet had also noted that the 5 mos old
pup was underweight. April came around and the owners of
Splash brought him back to the vets to be euthanized
because they could no longer deal with Splash's skin
condition. When asked by the vet if they gave Splash the
medication that was given to him months before the owners
stated they forgot to give it to their dog. The vet was
horrified of what he saw..it was the worse case of mange he
had seen in a long time. Splash was in terrible shape and
was more than 10lbs under weight. The staff at the vets
refused to have Splash put to sleep because they said he
was too sweet for such a fate. They asked the owners to
sign him over to rescue...and they did just that.
The vet treated Splash for his condition....Splash needed
several kinds of tests, and was treated for his mange, the
skin infection that was cause because of the mange and more
medication for the ear infections he also had because of
the mange. ARPH agreed to cover the large vet bill. Splash
will still need to see a vet for the next few months for
further testing.
Splash is also VERY underweight and will need to remain in
foster care for sometime to get healthy. Splash needs to
gain 10-15 lbs and to grow back his fur. He lost large
amounts of hair that has left most of his body bald.
Because of the mange Splash is also loosing chunks of
skin...as a result Splash has several open sores all over
his body that will need time to heal.
Even after all of this Splash is a complete sweetie and a
happy little boy who just wants to be loved.....
If you would like to help Splash and his vet bills please
make a donation to ARPH and say you would like to designate
it to Splash ARPH # 10586
Splash would like to say THANK YOU in advance!
