DOGS IN NEED
Poor Burl is a young aussie who's had a
rough start in his short life. He came to us badly
underweight with a mouth full of porcupine quills and
diagnosis of lymes disease. As if that weren't enough, Burl
seems to have suffered an injury to his left hind leg some
time in the past that resulted in severe degenerative joint
disease in his hip for which he'll need a hip replacement
in order to enjoy the kind of activity aussies love without
suffering pain.
We think Burl is about a year old (his growth plates are
closed) and we'd like to see him live his life to the
fullest, without a paintfull disability. He badly wants to
be active, and does his best with 3 good legs. He is a
friendly affectionate fellow who has yet to meet a stranger
- both dog and human and has made quite an impact among the
veterinary staff working with him. Burl is also a tennis
ball aficionado and, like a typical teenager, he has a
penchant for redecorating his Mom's basement (we're working
on redirecting that aptitude). He plays tag with his
foster-sister Jo, a Border Collie and has dreams of someday
being able to join in the body slamming fun of his foster
brother "Moose" but that must wait until he is healed.
The surgery and associated costs is estimated to be $5200
to $5600 and we can use all the help we can get to make
Burl better. Thank you!
